The Green Team

The Green Team win at The Night of the Stars

The Bristol has done it again, picking up another award for its environmental efforts, this time the Green Team award at the inaugural “Night of the Stars”, organised by the recently re-launched Bristol Hoteliers Association to celebrate and recognise the efforts of the chefs, front-of-house staff and unsung heroes who work so hard to make Bristol’s hotels a success.

The Bristol was recognised for the investments it has made in being more eco, which have resulted in year on year energy reductions, including an 18.5% decrease in carbon dioxide emissions, an 8.2% drop in electricity usage and a 9.5% fall in gas consumption. They have also succeeded in diverting all of the hotel’s waste from landfill and ensured that the hotel recycles 64% of its waste.

The Bristol’s F&B offering is made, as much as is possible, from locally, ethically and fairly-traded ingredients; 80% of the staff walk, cycle or take the bus to work; and each year the staff adopt a local charity for which they raise money – this year the chosen charity is PROPS ( and their aim is to raise £6000.

Previously, The Bristol has picked up awards for the “Best Green Business” at the Business Leader awards (October 2017), secured a place in the “West of England Green 50” list produced by the Evening Post (October 2017) and achieved TripAdvisor Green Leader Gold status (January 2016).

Mark Payne, General Manager of The Bristol, said,
“I am thrilled for all the winners of tonight’s awards, I’m particularly proud that we won the Green Team award, as our green champions work unstintingly to make The Bristol a more eco-friendly and socially responsible hotel, proving that you don’t have to be a new build to make a difference. There is always something that can be done, however small, to improve the environment and collectively make Bristol a better place to live and work.”
